Busy Busy Busy

I cannot believe have not been here since Thanksgiving.  I have been so busy I don't know where the time has gone.  I have been pretty productive though, I have all Christmas gifts made, bought and wrapped and ready for the grandkids.

I will have pictures tomorrow, waiting on the camera from Hanna, there's a shock.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to Noah

Today is a very special day for a very special person.  My Grandson Noah is 9 today.  He stayed with us this weekend, which was all about him.  He wanted new basketball shoes for his birthday, what 9 year old wants new shoes for this birthday??  But he did so of course we went and got them as soon as I picked him up.  Then of course he needed to wear them around the house to make sure he could jump high in them, and then he had to go outside to see if he could run faster, and of course he could.  Everything was perfect with the new basketball shoes, now let's just hope he can still wear them when basketball season starts!!

Is that not the sweetest face you have ever seen.  I know I think so.  Love him the most!

Talk to you soon.

Henrietta Whiskers

This week I finished Henrietta Whiskers by Bunny Hill.  It was so fun to make.  I used wool for the first time, and I think it turned out pretty good.  I learned a few things along the way.

The stars and leaves are wool.

This pattern was a free BOM by bunnyhilldesigns.com.  You should check it out.

Well that's it for today.

BOO!

Well I have been sewing but nothing finished quite yet to show you but it will be soon.

So since it is Halloween I thought I would show you how we say BOO at our house.

This is our Boo (Hanna, really but we have called her Boo since she was born) on her 14th birthday.  Typical on the phone, usually her cell and texting, but her Great-Grandmother doesn't use those new techie things!

She is also a pretty good soccer player.

OOPS!!!

Have you ever made that certain block and you just loved everything about it?  You love making the blocks, you had fun making them and you can't wait to set it all together.  Well that is the quilt I am about to show you, but wait what is wrong with this picture??

How did I not see this??

This quilt is from Kathleen Tracy's book Remembering Adelia, called Peony Star Quilt.  I love it and always have loved her books and this one is no exception.  Check it out.

Oh by the way I am leaving it this way.  It kind of grows on you and it is a true glimpse of me!!

Cheddar and not the Cheese type!!

A while back a quilting friend of mine and I decided we wanted to do a quilt with lots of cheddar fabric.  We had been collecting for a while and when we had enough we decided it was time to design the quilt around the fabric!! (who knew)  So we did and here is the finished product.

I love it so now it's off to the quilter.

See you soon

Third Grade Math REALLY

I've always been really good at math.  It was my favorite subject in school, but math today is not like I remember.  I was helping my grandson Noah with his 3rd grade math homework, ( now this should be easy addition and subtraction) he had 12 problems to add and subtract.  He did that and got all the answers correct, now here is the problem I had,  circle the addend, circle the minuend and circle the subtrahend,  REALLY  what the heck?  I had to google to find out what these were?  Whatever happened to the good old days of just add and subtract and get the right answer?  No wonder kids are so much smarter these days!!  How did I ever survive 35 years of Banking???

Well now that I have that off my chest onto the sewing room.  I have been proofing patterns today, kinda fun to read it from someone else perspective.  I have made the corrections and now ready for the printer.

Talk to you later.

Blogger's BOM

Well  I made my block using nothing but my scraps.  I love it and I keep promising myself that all the blocks will come from scraps or stash.  I am NOT going to buy any more fabric (well not for this BOM)!!

I think I need to take a better picture.  My sewing room is really bright with a lot of natural light which is good for sewing but not so much for picture taking.

Enjoy

Techie!!

I am such a nerd!!  I love analyzing stuff and making it new.  So that is what I have been working on this past couple of weeks.

I move everything including furniture in every room of the house (Mike hates that) but I just can't help it.  I love change.

I have also been doing some quilting and I am so proud of myself I finished my last UFO.  And here it is.  Country Garden featured in Easy Quilts Fall 2008.  I love it, now if it was just quilted I would put it on my table.

Also I have been working on a new Small Patches quilt.  What do you think?

No borders and I think I will leave it that way (very unusual for me).

Well I guess that is it for now.

Indiana and Family

We just returned from a trip to Indiana and visiting with family.  The kids had a great time and met family they had not met before.  My sister lives in Bloomington IN home of Indiana University so we took them to see Assembly Hall and all that is what makes Indiana.  Noah called it The IU don't think he quite got that is was a really big school!!

My Mother-in-Law lives in Shelbyville IN as well as my brother so went spent time with them as well.  It's great for the kids to get to know their Great Grandma MIMI!

I did have time to visit one quilt shop but of course didn't have my camera.  It's a great little shop in Shelbyville, the only one around unless you go to Indianapolis.  Of course I had to purchase, fat quarters, thread and a Twister ruler.  Can't wait to try out the ruler.  If you haven't tried it you should it is a lot of fun.

Noah playing the drums at Aunt Julie's house.  He wants to take lessons, can't hurt!!

Aunt Julie and Hanna

That's all for now.  Enjoy your weekend.
