Something different

Hey

I sometimes get distracted from quilting, (not often but it does happen) and I work on a different kind of creativity.

This past week I worked on some quilt designs but not with fabric.  I used a 6" ceramic tile and scrap book paper.

I think they will make gifts and not just for quilters.  Check them out see what you think.  They were so fun to make.

Kids could make these as well and wouldn't Grandma be thrilled to receive a gift made by such sweet little hands.

These would also be cute on 4" tiles to use as coasters.

Now don't you agree these would be great gifts.  Christmas is just around the corner.

Talk to you soon.

Tribute

This is a hard one to write.  One week ago today I said good bye to my brother Bob.  Bob had fought Multiple Mylomea for 3 and a half years.  He was very strong and the best brother a girl cold have, I miss him and I loved him more than I could say.

The most important thing to know about my brother was that he was a man of God.  He always put God first, then his wife and kids.  He was a great and faithful man who was loved by everyone who knew him.  He was always willing to help and never said a unkind word about anyone.  He was a great husband, his wife was always there for him as well.  They were most always together and took the best care of each other.  Theirs was a marriage to follow.  He had 3 children and 4 grandchildren, Bob always made time for them no matter what.

As a brother there was none better, even as a kid he was the good one!!!  He always had pockets full of nuts and bolts and screws, because he worked on everything and could fix it.  There was nothing he couldn't fix and believe me he took it apart to make sure.  I had a Volkswagen when I graduated from high school and there was many times he would take the engine out of it tweak it and then put it back in, of course it was always when I wanted to go somewhere!!

When Bob went to be with Jesus on Monday I felt such Peace knowing he was all good.  Even though I will miss him I know that Heaven is a better place now that my brother Bob is there.

I love you Bobby

New Pattern

I have been wanting to do a new pattern with applique but just couldn't find the time, so this week I made the time.

It's been a while since I had any applique to work on and that is so not like me.  I usually always have hand work sitting around.  I love to just sit of an evening, watch TV and stitch, so this week I did just that.

I hope you like it as much as I do.  The pattern will be available next week, just need to make a few tweeks.

I love all the new orange and grey fabrics out right now.  Primitive Gatherings and Jo Morton are some of my favorites so I used them both in this quilt.  Jo Morton's Leesburg A-5860-B was used as the background fabric and A-5862-B for the border.  Primitive Gatherings Seasonal Little Gatherings 1064-20 as the center squares in the star blocks.  I used my scraps a lot when making quilts so the star points and the appliques are all using scraps.

Where Have I Been

Where have I been?  Well I have been right here working, quilting, volunteering just busy!!  A good busy, I love being busy!

I have made several quilt tops in the last couple of months, designed a few and taught a class.

Check it out

I love churn dash quilts and this is one I saw and decided to make it my own.  Blocks are made with blue and green civil war fabrics (big shock there) and is one of my favorites.

I have been wanting to make a dresden plate for a while but just couldn't seem to find the time.  So I made the time and I love it.  The blades on this one are 3 1/2" and it makes a great fall table runner.

How about Pumpkin Square by Rhonda McCray.  This pattern is in the latest Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine.

Summer Stars sew along from www.temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com check it out.

Hope you enjoyed the little journey.

Sew Sweet Retreat

This past weekend was the Sew Sweet Retreat in Brunswick MO and it was a great time.  This was the first year for the retreat by Sew Sweet Quilt Shop and I would say it was a success.  Jeanette and Jessica the shop owners was wonderful hostesses.  Everything was set up beautifully and you could not have asked for nicer staff and participants.

The shop was gorgeous, sorry no pictures of the shop but believe me it was great and yes I spent my fair share and then some.  They carry all the current collections by Moda and others.  The shop was 2 full floors or books, patterns and fabric.

I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Tula Pink, WOW is all I can say.  She gave an excellent lecture on how she designs her fabric lines.  Did you know she does all the original drawings herself for each of her fabric lines?  Amazing

I taught 2 different classes

NIN's Personal Bag

What a great bunch of ladies.  Everyone finished the bag and all used it the next day.  How cool is that!!

Sew Sweet Stars

Each star was different and each was beautimous!! (as my Mom would say)

A great time was had by all.

Thank you Jeanette and Jessica

Until next time
